Geonwoo Yi
Geonwoo Yi, a pianist from South Korea, pursued his Bachelor of Music degree at Seoul National University, where he graduated with Top Honors in Piano Performance in 2024. He will commence his studies for a Master of Music degree at the New England Conservatory of Music starting this September, studying under Professor Alexander Korsantia and Alessio Bax.
Throughout his career, Geonwoo has honed his craft through private studies with renowned mentors such as Professor JongHwa Park during his undergraduate years and JaEun Koo during high school. Geonwoo has enriched his musical education by participating in masterclasses conducted by distinguished artists including Professor Jerome Lowenthal, Inna Faliks, and YungWook Yoo.
As a performer, Geonwoo has graced numerous prestigious stages in his homeland, including notable appearances at the 87th Chosun-ilbo Debut Concert in Seoul and as a soloist with the SNU Philharmonic Orchestra.
Geonwoo's dedication to musical excellence is further demonstrated through his achievements in competitions, where he has consistently earned top accolades. Notable wins include the Seoul National University Concerto Competition in 2023, the SeongJeong Music Competition in 2022, and the Busan Music Competition in 2022.
