Theodore Chaffman

Theodore Chaffman is a dynamic pianist and cultural diplomat, captivating audiences from Vienna's Konzerthaus to sold-out recitals in New York's underground classical scene.

He has achieved significant recognition in prestigious competitions, including winning grand prix at the American University concerto competition, second prize at the Alexandria Symphony concerto competition, and being a finalist at the 2023 Charleston international music competition. His orchestral debut with Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2 further showcased his exceptional skill.

Originally from Davidson, North Carolina, Theodore studied International Relations and Music at American University, including lessons with Yuliya Gorenman in DC and Johannes Kropfitsch in Vienna. He furthered his studies at Juilliard Extension, and despite limited piano access and no private teacher, has continued to excel independently. He is currently producing an ambitious Afro-Caribbean opera, exemplifying his commitment to diversifying the classical repertoire and fostering cultural innovation.

As an emerging cultural diplomat, Theodore leverages his musical talents and interdisciplinary education to bridge cultural divides, demonstrating that music is a powerful tool for global connectivity and understanding.
