Yang Gao was born in Dalian, China, and started to study the piano at the age of four. Mr. Gao entered the Attached Middle School of Shenyang Conservatory of Music Dalian Campus in 2010 to study with Prof. Xiaoqiang Wang. Mr. Gao is a prize winner of several competitions including the first prize of Dalian Piano Competition, Steinway Piano Competition in China northeast area, West Lake International Music Festival Piano Competition, CCM Undergraduate Scholarship Competition, and Nancy F. Walker Scholarship competition. He has been a participant of Art of the Piano and Eastern Music Festival, receiving a full scholarship for both. He is also a participant of the 2020 Gilmore Keyboard Festival. Mr. Gao has performed in many recitals and received master classes instruction from such internationally-acclaimed artists as Alexander Korsantia, William Grant Naboré, Kun Woo Paik and Boris Slutsky. In 2017, he entered College-Conservatory of Music in University of Cincinnati to pursue the Bachelor of Music degree, studying with Prof. Awadagin Pratt.
