Avery Gagliano, 2018 Young Artist, has won first prize at the 10th National Chopin Competition in Miami.

25 young pianists from around the world descended on Miami this past week to compete, hoping to take the first prize which includes $100,000, a concert tour, a Steinway label recording, and automatic admission to the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in October 2020 (including travel expenses to attend).

Competing alongside Ms. Gagliano was fellow AoP Young Artist and 2018 Enlight Prize winner, Talon Smith.

Talon took sixth place, which includes a prize of $5000 and, if accepted, travel expenses to the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.

The National Chopin Piano Competition of the United States is designed to offer performance opportunities and financial support to young American pianists, and to enable the Prize Winners to take part in the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. Initiated in 1975, and held in Miami every five years, the National Competition rules reflect closely the regulations and requirements of the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland
