Yunling Zhang, born in Shanghai, China, entered the Music Primary School affiliated with Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2006, studying with Professor Zijie Wu. In 2009, she entered the Music Middle School affiliated with Shanghai Conservatory of Music, studying with Professor Yunlin Yang. She is the second prize winner of the Fifth Gu Lang Yu National professional piano competition, and a recipient of the Fu Cheng Xian Scholarship in 2010. She is also the first prize winner of the Fifth Hong Kong Asia Youth Piano Competition, and the second prize winner of the Zhou Guang Ren Young Pianist Award in 2012.
Yunling attended the 2012 Beijing International Music Festival and won the second prize in the Piano Concerto Competition. She has won prizes in numerous chamber music competitions, including the first prizes in the 18th and 19th Morningside Music Bridge Festival chamber music competitions. In 2015 she won the second prize of Harrison L. Winter Piano Competition.
As a young artist, she participated the Piano Texas International Academy and Festival in 2016. She performed the Schumann Piano Concerto with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in the Shanghai Concert hall. She is currently a sophomore student at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University pursuing a bachelor degree, studying with Boris Slutsky.
