Alexander Lo, 21, will be pursuing a Master of Music degree in piano performance from the Eastman School of Music, where he also completed his undergraduate studies.
Most recently, he was awarded 2nd Place at the 2016 Thousand Islands International Piano Competition and was a finalist in the 17th Osaka International Music Competition in Japan. His additional accomplishments include top prizes in the Steinway Society of South Jersey Young Pianist Competition, the Steinway Society of Princeton Scholarship Competition, the Young Pianist Competition of New Jersey, and the MTNA New Jersey Division. In 2014, he was invited as a guest artist to the Delaware Valley Music Club in Pennsylvania and in the previous year, received the Bart Pitman, SJMTA Sylvia Denbo, and Roy Leonard Scholarships.
Originally from Southern New Jersey, Alex owes much of his musical development to his two wonderful teachers, Professor Natalya Antonova, with whom he studies at Eastman; and Professor Veda Zuponcic of Rowan University, his mentor throughout high school. He has also had the honor of working with many influential musicians, including Marina Lomazov, Dmitry Rachmanov, Sergei Krivonos, Thomas Schumacher, Douglas Humpherys, Vincent Lenti, Tony Caramia, Alan Chow, Mirian Conti, Mitsuko Ichimura, and Barry Snyder, among others.
